34 Days Remaining – STUPID Foot Pain!, Recovery Week

So here I am about six days out from the QC Tri and less than 5 weeks from my 70.3 Racine race and I can barely walk normal. I don’t get it. To say I am frustrated is putting it mildly.

Last Friday I swam and then Amanda headed off to Chicago. I had put in some serious training the week leading up to Friday and planned on some days of rest to give the body a break. I did nothing the rest of the day Friday except some serious deck sanding.

Saturday was the Race For The Cure in which I walked the race with my kids. So, once again another easy day of training. I did do some more sanding and that is when the pain in my foot started to kick in. I don’t know if it was just too much time on my feet from the training prior and the sanding or what, but my foot started to give me fits. I took it easy that evening thinking I just tweaked it a little.

Sunday I woke up and could barely walk. I had a 13 mile run to get in Sunday when Amanda returned to complete my training for the week. I was hoping that the pain would eventually go away as the day went on, but instead the pain remained and kept me from doing anything. I thought about being really stubborn and stupid and running anyway, but I came to my senses and did not. I slept terrible last night as I have so much energy from from I feel has been 3 easy rest days. I could not fall asleep last night.

I woke up this morning hoping all pain would be taken care of. It was still there. It was raining so I did not ride this morning, but I did go to the Y for my swim. This week is a recovery week in my 70.3 Ironman training so the plan called for only 1400 yards of swimming. I wanted to put in a killer workout as I have so much energy, but I stayed the course.

I did the following

Warm-Up
100 free
100 pull
100 kick
50 kick on back
50 one arm swims

500 swim with paddles
2 x 100 @ 1:25
100 kick
2 x 50
100 pull
2 x 25

It was weird being done in under 30 minutes. My foot pain is still there. I am really hoping Kaminski can help today. I am really hoping it is a tendon or nerves and not bone/stress fracture.

I am going to try and get in a bike ride if I am able to pedal, but I will wait until after Kaminski.

This week starts Lego Robotics Camp so I spent a good hour getting ready for this at school and this will cut into training times as well.

Not a good way to end a great week of training last week nor a good start to this week.

AGGHHHH!!!!! screams the bald ugly guy!
