A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones – Reading Update Part 1

I have started. Finally.

I have owned a copy of A Game of Thrones for several years. This book has been in so many TBR piles and spent endless nights on my nightstand waiting to be read. For some reason each time I prepared to embark on this journey, I became distracted by something else whether it was my master’s degree, changing jobs, reading YA novels nonstop, family, computer nerd habits, etc.

With the tv series starting up(I don’t have access to the show so I must wait until DVD time) I found the time to start.

I k now that he just wrapped up the newest novel and that will be coming out soon. So I have a lot reading to do and get caught up on.

I even bought the second book as motivation to finish the first.

I am 50 pages into it which means I am 1/16 of the way through. Not very far. I started out extremely confused. He was tossing names and family lineage around like crazy. I am slowly starting to piece together who is related to who and starting to understand him establishing several plot lines that I am sure will run together.

When I have time to read for more than 10 minutes at a time I am sucked right into this world and love it. It is not a book to read a little at a time.

I found a good website offered to me via Twitter that helps me understand the characters little bit more, but I don’t want any spoilers so I have avoided it as much as possible.

I will keep you posted on my progress as I plunge my way through this series.
