Book Review: Boneshaker

This is a steampunk novel. Steampunk? What in the world is that? Well, I am creating a post about steampunk, but essentially it is cyber-punk but not with using the future elements.

Anyways, I don’t know why, but this book just did not live up to all the hype that I was reading about it. I think it may have been due to the fact that I just came off a three book reading purge that caught me so off guard. Honestly, the last three books were by far in my favorite top 5 of the year. At some point the roller coaster has to come to an end and this book might have been the end of the ride. What I am saying is that I don’t think it was so much the book as it was me.

For a quick summary you can go here

This was not a fast read. The words were very tiny and it came over a little over 400 pages. I just kept waiting for something super awesome to happen and it never did. Obviously, I finished the book so it must have been good. Of course, there was a poisonous gas, killer zombies, killing and violence, etc.

I know that two sequels are planned by this author so that is good news. I know I will end up reading the series. I just reread what I typed and I feel bad about how gloom this review is, but the setting was quite gloomy. I don’t do ratings, but I would give this book a 3.5/5. I think many of you will like this book. If you like a boy who is in need of finding answers to his father and you liked what you read with the summary link above, then you will enjoy this read.
