My Thoughts
I have found another wonderful author who has moved up in ranks of being on of my favorite YA authors. I am reading many new authors for the first time and Kessler has snagged herself another fan of her writing.
I am always hesitant at first to read books about eating disorders. Some play up the drama too much, others completely miss the point of what is going on with the issues at hand. This novel did not do either one. It was fair and accurate. It took a snapshot of a girl with some issues.
What I liked even more than the concept of an eating disorder is the reason behind it. Lisabeth is Famine, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse ( in case you are not familiar with this). What a clever connection. I loved it. I mean I LOVED IT!!! So smart. Duh! Why had I never thought of bridging these two ideas together?
Lisa now has to see,learn, understand all about famine as one of the horsemen and then continue to deal with her own issues of eating. This really forces her to open her eyes and make some decisions.

This book reads fast. It does not get all caught up in pages of unnecessary drama and details that can kill a story. Rather it hits on what is important and moves on.
Yes, this book is moving on to my favorite reads of 2011 list. I cannot wait for April to read RAGE, the next book in the series.
