Half Marthon Training – Week 3 – Monday

Today is a day of rest. I surprisingly was not too sore when I woke up this morning. I thought for sure I would have been sore after running the 8 miles, but now that I have the stretching and hydration thing somewhat figured out I am sure that helps. However, my knees hurt very badly. My left knee has some serious pain on the outside. Not good. I did lift some weights, but not in the morning as I overslept 2.5 hours. I completed two complex circuits where you use the same dumbbells for all lifts. I had to complete circuits of 15 reps of the following:

Complex 1
Hang Clean
Thrusters
Bent Over Row
Overhead Triceps
Curls
Romanian Deadlifts

Complex 2
Push Press
Upright Rows
Arnold Press
Lunges
Overhead Tri
Rom. Deadlift

For everything I used 30 lb dumbbells except lunges where I did not use any weight due to my knees hurting. This was a tough workout. There is no rest between lifts and a 2 minute rep after completing the circuit once. I did Complex 1 three times and then Complex 2 three times. I was spent. Now I am off to find some shoes as my shoes might be part of the problem. They are old and not really designed for running the mileage I have running lately.
