Introducing the Hummingbird Bit

I am so excited to share with people something that Birdbrain Technologies has been working on and announced to the world the other day. They have created a new product that merges two of my all time favorite products into one.

It is called the Hummingbird Bit and what it allows the user to do is simply slide in a Micro:bit to the Hummingbird to allow coding via MakeCode.

How freaking awesome is this?

Both of these products all users to truly have an open source maker mindset. Any material can be used with these products. I have spent the past year working with teachers and media specialists who have Hummingbird kits create amazing projects. I have experimented with classroom teachers using Micro:bits to bring the reading standards to life. Now we can merge both of these together.

The really awesome part is that we will be able to use MakeCode for programming which is fantastic news. No software. No downloads. Works on all devices. Easy to say to OneDrive or Google Drive. Accessible anytime and anywhere.

I am so jazzed about the future projects that will be created.

As I prepare for a workshop at ISTE teaching teachers how this works at the CS Firehose I will be sure to capture some images of the crazy things people make.

In the meantime check out the website for more details

Check out my video where I run through some basic coding ideas so you can see how easy and powerful this can be!

I am working a few new projects witih this, but if you have questions or want to learn more simply leave a comment!
