#25daysofmaking Day 21 LEGO BALLOON VASE

“Good design is like a refrigerator—when it works, no one notices, but when it doesn’t, it sure stinks.” –Irene Au

Dear all LEGO friends

Welcome to day 21. Each day I get a bit more excited to share another project while at the same time being one more day closer to Christmas. I love the mornings of rising early and creating these updates and newsletters by the Christmas tree and a cup of coffee. It has been such a wonderful start to my day each morning and I hope yours too.

Before we dive into this super cool project for today I wanted to highlight some projects that classrooms are making. Each page I have added the submissions to the bottom for us to see.

Day 20 – Check out where the Gingerbread Man was caught!
Day 17
– A remix of Hermey the Elf by making Cornelius
Day 5 – This vellum light project is hugely popular. I will be loading examples by end of weekend but we did add a binder clip adaptation.
Day 3 – Makedo Christmas Tree

Today I have the honor to introduce Liam Nilsen and his incredibly cool project idea. If you don’t follow the work of Liam, then I highly suggest you do so. His ideas and his work to help create high quality learning opportunities is something not be missed. The best place is his Twitter to see the work he is doing with LEGO Idea Studio as well as all his previous projects.

The challenge today is one that would be great for all students to experience. The materials are quite simple. The task reads pretty simple. However, if and when you complete the design, then you have created beauty. Just as the quote states above, when we create good design we rarely notice. This project is an example of this statement.

Create

The 21st project is a project that is so much fun! All you need are some balloons, some LEGO pieces, and water! What will you create? What beauty will you add to the world?

Could you make a LEGO flower to add to the vase? Or perhaps challenge yourself to make it out of another material.

Best of luck and be sure to share!

We hope you enjoy the 21st day of making project.

Share

Add your project or any other projects you are working on through these options to share how you approached today’s challenge or the one from yesterday. Then, check out and comment on some other examples when they are shared.

Besides using the hashtag #25daysofmaking on Instagram and Twitter I am also posting the projects over on Facebook so you can interact on this platform as well.

Finally, don’t forget to head over to Flipgrid and introduce yourself and/or your students!

Reflect

This element is important! Don’t neglect reflection on your own learning. We must be lifelong learners and be models to our students.

Take a moment to reflect on your creative process by sharing with the hashtags and other mediums. Let us start a conversation about this concept. How did remixing help you? What questions do you still have about remixing?
