#25daysofmaking Day 6: micro:bit controlled Christmas Lights

25 Days of Making

2019 Edition

Dear friends,

Welcome to the sixth day of making for the #25daysofmaking. Today we feature a maker and educator who I have so much respect for. I have followed her work and have so much respect for all the work she does. Lorraine Underwood is a maker and educator from Ireland living in the UK. She loves micro:bit and Raspberry Pi with a specialty for shiny lights! Check out her work at her Blog.

Learn more about the Lorriane on our maker page.

The project today uses my favorite device, the micro:bit. It is one I love so much that I owe 60 of them personally! You will love this project and it is a great way to add some festive lighting to your space.

Join our  FB Group dedicated to this project to ask questions, share ideas, and connect with other makers.

Create

Lorraine has provided many options to complete the project depending on materials.  What method did you use? What new learning occurred?

She has also provided some sample code. Be sure to share your light sequence. How many different light code can we develop? Let’s see those lights!

Add your project or any other projects you are working on through these options to share how you approached today’s challenge or the one from yesterday. Then, check out and comment on some other examples when they are shared.

Reflect

Take a moment to reflect on your creative process? Create a notebook, use a Google Doc, Evernote, Word Document….. What did you like most about your project? What would you do with it next, if you had more time? What are you planning to do?

Looking forward to hearing your adventures in making
