#25daysofmaking Project 5: Light Up Literature

“If you don’t understand, ask questions. If you’re uncomfortable about asking questions, say you are uncomfortable about asking questions and then ask anyway.”—Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Dear makers and tinkerers,

It is exciting to see growth in users and participants. Five days into the challenge we continue to have more join us and be inspired by the works of these amazing educators sharing their projects. To all joining us, welcome. To those who have been here from the start, I hope you reach out and connect with the many new faces.

Besides using the hashtag #25daysofmaking on Instagram and Twitter I am also posting the projects over on Facebook so you can interact on this platform as well.

Finally, don’t forget to head over to Flipgrid and introduce yourself and/or your students!

Today we bring you project 5 which is another bright challenge to make some light up literature. This is one I know people will love and cannot wait to see some examples. Head on over to  Day 5 of 25 Days of Making, as we make a another awesome holiday prop.

Create

Explore all the different ways this can be done. Besides literature, what else could you add to this light? Song lyrics, a self created poem, maybe your own life mantra, favorite lines from a movie?

If you don’t have a 3D printer, then that does not mean you cannot do this project. How else could you make the LED battery holder? Are there simpler ways using tape and cardboard or other materials.

This is a great conversation to have with students that just because we don’t have an item doesn’t mean we can’t do a project.

Share

Add your project or any other projects you are working on through these options to share how you approached today’s challenge or the one from yesterday. Then, check out and comment on some other examples when they are shared.

Reflect

This element is important! Don’t neglect reflection on your own learning. We must be lifelong learners and be models to our students.

Take a moment to reflect on your creative process? Create a notebook, use a Google Doc, Evernote, Word Document….. What did you like most about your project? What would you do with it next, if you had more time? What are you planning to do?

Looking forward to hearing your adventures in making

Aaron “Coffeechug” Maurer
