FIRST SIP OF JOE: GOOGLE’S NEW IMAGE CREATION IN SEARCH
Evolving AI Ecosystems
The integration of AI into everyday tools continues to happen faster and faster, especially these last few weeks. This week, Google made waves with the announcement of a new feature rolling out to its Search platform. If you are using SGE, soon you’ll be able to create images right within the Google Search bar—a stride towards a more unified AI ecosystem that minimizes the need to hop between different tools and platforms. Some already have access to this feature and I am still waiting. From what I see online it is another step to complete ecosystems of AI integration.
The feature is part of Google’s broader initiative to harness Generative AI in enhancing user experience. Although access is yet to be opened to all, the anticipation builds as AI’s integration promises a streamlined interface for both creators and everyday users alike.

FOR YOUR THIRD CUP OF COFFEE: ADOBE’S PROJECT FAST FILL
Revolutionizing Video Editing with AI
Adobe ushered in a breath of fresh innovation at its MAX Conference with the unveiling of Project Fast Fill. Most are already trying to catch up and be amazed by Firefly 2 and now this announcement. This video editing marvel is all about redefining video editing through AI generation coupled with text prompts, and the demonstration was nothing short of astounding!
Here’s a peek into what Fast Fill brings to the table:
- It’s akin to Google’s Magic Eraser or generative fill for images, but leaps a step further by catering to moving videos.
- The engine harnesses the power of generative AI to gracefully fill in the gaps left behind after removing objects or individuals from video clips.
- With simple text prompts, alterations in color, lighting, and more can be made without the hassle of traditional editing tools.
It is still in the experimental phase, the winds of change hint at its integration into stalwart platforms like Premiere Pro and After Effects in the foreseeable future. This again is an AI development that can change so much of how we operate and create.
As AI continues to redefine photo editing landscapes, Fast Fill is on the brink of ushering a similar renaissance for video editing. It’s not just about enhancing creative realms, but also about navigating the murky waters of trust and truth in digital media.

AI TOOLS: EMBRACING CANVA AI
Canva’s AI Journey: A Personal Perspective
For some reason, Canva AI and I didn’t initially click, a situation I’m attributing to human error on my part. However, here’s a guiding prompt that bridged the gap for me, and might do the same for you.
Transforming Text to Video: A Step-by-Step Guide
Dive into the realm of video creation with Canva AI’s text-driven video generation feature. Here’s a simplified walkthrough to get you started:
- Initiate Your Project: Begin a new Canva design. Navigate to “Apps”, select “Magic Media”, and then choose “Videos”.
- Pen Down Your Video Prompt: Describe the video you envision. For instance, pen down “A bustling city street at dusk.“(slide 1)
- Customize Your Vision: Specify your preferences for a more tailored visual output. For instance, mention “Bird’s-eye view of a busy intersection.“(slide 2)
In collaboration with Runway, Canva now empowers you to morph simple text prompts into captivating AI-generated videos, all within a user-friendly editor. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or just getting your feet wet, this feature could become a new arrow in your creative quiver.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: PONDERING AI THROUGH AN ARTIST’S LENS
In a reflective piece, an artist delves into the ambivalence surrounding AI-generated imagery, highlighting:
- The essence of human creativity lost in AI-generated art, which lacks the iterative, organic process of traditional artistry.
- AI’s inability to replicate the enriching journey of trial, error, and learning inherent in human creativity.
- The potential desensitization towards artistry as AI simplifies the creation process, reducing the appreciation for human skill and effort.
Reflect and Respond:
- How do you think the proliferation of AI in art affects the appreciation of traditional artistry?
- As AI tools become more adept at mimicking human creativity, what implications do you foresee on the authenticity and value of artistic creations?
