I just recently joined BBAW and completely missed out on having my blog part of the voting for any awards. I probably would not have any votes anyways, but it would have been fun to be mentioned among all the amazing bloggers. I just registered and this blog was one that really struck my eye – http://jaja-cas.blogspot.com/
I really liked this blogger for several reasons. He seems to be on my off the wall level of thinking. He also reads books similar to what I read and it was just a lot of fun to sift through all the older posts and read on everything I have been missing from not being aware of this blog. I think it is important to have an outlet for just boys. I know girls will also check out this blog and read the books that are suggested as well. However, in our society we must continue to support and showcase that reading is not stupid to boys. So many have that idea engraved in their mind. There was an article in the latest School Library Journal(September 2010) that has ideas to bring boys to libraries and teaching the people who work in libraries and boys are not bad. This blogger has done a nice job showcasing authors who are popular among boys and providing links and visuals to entice them to read the blog.
Other blogs that I love and check daily are Guys Lit Wire, Bookshelves of Doom, and Presenting Lenore.
As I continue to find my blog personality and discover what works and what doesn’t I find myself realizing that the blogs I go to over and over are ones that have their own personality and stand out from the rest of the crowd. I would like to get to that point one day where my blog is one that be from all over would be aware of so my book reviews can help more than just my students.
