My Thoughts
I have been in a reading slump. I have been too busy to read with so much going on at school at home. I finally had some time the other night to read and decided to open up this novel and give it try. Needless to say about three hours later I was still reading in the same spot on my couch finishing up a great little story about a teenager dealing with a complicated situation.
Lexie is trying her best to figure out what to do with her ex who is addicted to heroin. She feels guilty for his current situation. She gives him money to feed his habit even though she knows it is wrong. Let me just say that what ensues when she stands strong and refuses to give him money is what makes this story.
I liked this story because I think any teenager can relate to the problems of friends and peer pressure. Granted, I don’t think a majority of us are dealing with heroin abuse, but the concept that we have friends or ex lovers who for some reason we just cannot say “no” and this leads to further situations.
This book felt realistic to me. It did not feel far fetched in terms of the strain of the relationship. The ending was good and I rather enjoyed this novel. So much that I read it in one sitting.
This book is part of the Keystone Series which is a collection of high interest stories for reluctant readers. There is another novel in this series, Marina Cohen’s Mind Gap, which is on the top of my TBR pile.
This is a quick easy read that will grab you and not let go until the end.
