Before I get into the nuts and bolts of my latest endeavor I want to explain my thoughts. I have for a long time now wanted to come up with a quarterly education ebook that captured the voices of the amazing people in my PLN as well as the staff in my building and especially students. I think there is more and more that I can do to help bring the voices of many amazing people in education to the forefront. This is one way that I am trying to do so.
In many ways, this is just like Unboxed by High Tech High. However, I want something more. I want a different flavor. I want the Coffeechug feel to permeate throughout. I want more voice from students and even more voice from the educators we rarely hear from. I want parents involved and more importantly I want YOU involved.
So please take time to read what I am after and PLEASE consider submitting something to the first issue of Coffeechug Cafe Inc. My experiment and vision is only as strong as my PLN which means this will be pretty mighty and amazing!
So…..read on and figure out what you are going to send my way. I cannot wait to piece the first issue together.
Coffeechug Cafe Inc. will be peer-reviewed e-zine/ebook of crowd-sourced articles and publications catered to education, published four times a year by Coffeechug and educators of Bettendorf as well as his PLN. Our goal is to create a useful online ebook to serve readership around the world. Our goal is to have voices from K-12 teachers, administrators, students, teacher educators, policymakers, researchers, and anyone else in the world of education. We are seeking articles and examples of learning that focus on reflections of teaching and/or learning, written essays, observations, project examples, research, scholary articles, templates, forms, tools, upcoming projects, exhibits, etc.
Submissions may take the form of articles or a two sided card much in the same format at Unboxed from HTH(http://www.hightechhigh.org/unboxed/back_issues.php).
Articles or anything written should be limited to 2500 words and follow the UnBoxed Style Guide. We will eventually tweak this format to make it our own, but as for now we would like to follow a system that is already amazing. Don’t forget to include who you are and your social media links so the readers can contact you for follow up questions and conversations.
Card submissions should include a brief project/tool description, teacher reflection(s), and student reflection(s) limited to 375 words. Contributors should also include several high-resolution images that could appear on the image side of the card. We invite contributors to design the image side of their card and send us their completed design.
