Hello all my super intelligent, thought provoking, mind bending network of brains and colleagues. 

I have been nudged and am excited(and nervous) to bring some of the recent learning and conversations I have held and participated in around generative AI to our state(Iowa) Authentic Learning Student Expo Virtual Conference.

This is an opportunity to bring together educators, business partners, and students to engage in some learning and conversation.

This is the session I have submitted:

Title: The Future of Education: Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of Generative AI Tools

Session Description: “The Future of Education: Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of Generative AI Tools,” will delve into the impact of generative AI on the education and learning sectors. The session will cover the latest developments in generative AI technology and its applications in education, from personalized learning to content creation. The speakers will also discuss the challenges faced in implementing generative AI tools in education and the steps that can be taken to overcome them. This session will be a unique opportunity for educators, administrators, and technology professionals to explore the future of education and to learn about the benefits and challenges of generative AI tools. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the potential of generative AI to transform the education landscape and the role they can play in making this a reality.

My request

For this session I am wanting to create an empowering and enlightening session that combines voices from the field to bring to light important topics around this much larger concept. I am envisioning a playlist of 5 minute videos that 

• Teach something specific about generative AI about a skill(i.e. How to interact and develop prompts)
• Create provocations about bigger issues such as plagiarism, ethics, data, privacy
• Narrative structure opening up for debate such as pros and cons of using a tool like ChatGPT
• Bringing to light basic awareness of generative AI in general
• Any other cool concept that I am not currently thinking about

In my brain the 60 minute session would go as follows

7 minutes: Introductions, access to materials, and quick overview of generative AI and a pulse check on what the audience knows, is using, etc.

7 minutes: Choose a video from the playlist to watch, capture thinking in a document, and prepare to discuss in small group

7 minutes: Break out into small groups to have conversation based on selection of learning

7 minutes: Whole group discussion/share out

7 minutes: Choose another video from playlist

7 minutes: Conversation in small group

7 minutes: Whole group share out

10 minutes: Wrap up, next steps, further learning, etc.

As with anything I do, when it is all created it will be accessible to you to use however you see fit and hopefully can be something of use to you as a return for your time. Additionally, if you want to be part of the session to hear the live interaction please let me know and I can work to make that happen once I know specific times.
