LEGO Quarantine Challenge: Updates, Next Challenges, and More

I cannot believe it.

We have reached the end of 30 days of straight LEGO building using only 100 pieces. What started out as something fun for a few friends of mine who are educators turned into a global reach of over 400 families, students, adults, and fans of LEGO contributing build designs daily for the last 30 days. I had no idea something like this would be so wonderful during a time when we all need a bit of family creativity, connecting with others, and taking a break from screens.

On one hand it is sad that we have reached the end of the challenge. When I started I thought this would be it, but after so many responses from people thanking me for the builds as it has been nice for families to create together, or for teachers to use with students, or simply a creative brain break I have decided to keep going.

I also know that the constraints of 100 pieces was challenging for some kids. While you could build however you want(there are no grades or penalties), I know that we lost some folks as it was not worth the battle.

So here are some next steps for you that will help you give voice to the next builds, prepare for the next challenge, sign up if you are new, and all that jazz.

3 Things To Do

  1. Check out the site – https://sites.google.com/view/lq100/home Seriously, look at the hundreds of builds submitted and celebrate in all the greatness created with only 100 pieces. You can still do these challenges or you can simply soak it all in!
  2. Please fill out this quick form that will help me shape the next challenge. I am working behind the scenes now to prepare, but want your voice! I will take input through Sunday.
  3. If you are not already signed up for the challenges, then please fill out this form to be included in the new builds and updates.

What to Expect Starting May 4th

  1. I am working on a revamp the site. I will organize the 100 LEGO Element Challenge and launching the new challenge on same site.
  2. I will produce bigger build challenges that will go along with the main build challenge. I will post the first one on Thursday, April 30th to give you time to build. I am SO EXCITED for this concept. I am just giddy to share this with you all.
  3. I will host Show and Tell opportunities for these bigger builds
  4. I will bring in some master LEGO builders to share build tips and ideas
  5. I will create a new Facebook Group dedicated to strictly LEGO
  6. And many more surprises as we go

So what can I do between now and May 4th?

  1. Do the 3 things listed above
  2. Build freely and share and I will post to our General Build page
  3. Wait for Thursday!
  4. Organize and sort your pieces

Thank you to all of you who have joined. It really inspires me to see so many taking part and gives me the motivation to keep sharing and creating for you all! Be in touch shortly!
