The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
We both read the first book in the series (The Forest of Hands and Teeth) before reading this one. We felt it started off strong, but gets bogged down/muddled as the Mudo continue to chase the non-Mudo. We kept wanting the author to move the action along and it seemed a bit too melodramatic for our taste.
A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron
Great book for anyone who has been a dog owner, is a dog owner, or simply likes dogs. The book is told in first person by a dog, which will make any human look differently at their canine. The book pulls at every human emotion–joy, sadness, anger, grief, etc. You’ll laugh; you’ll cry; you’ll sympathize with any creature that walks the earth. Cameron does a great job bringing the reader full circle from Toby’s humble beginnings to Buddy’s satisfying discovery.
Obviously, our overwhelming choice is A Dog’s Purpose!
