Try this prompt from a recent paper by Google Deepmind and highlighted by Ethan Mollick.
Add this to the start of your instructions and discover the difference:
Take a deep breath and work on this problem step-by-step.
This technique produces much better results. Other effective prompts include:
-
Break this down.
-
Use arithmetic and logical thinking to solve this problem.
-
Combine numerical command and clear thinking to find the answer quickly and accurately.
Using any of these prompts is better than not using them. Remember, a LLM doesn’t require breathing or thinking to complete the task.
