This is our latest episode where Awesome Ava learns how to make a Squirrel Picnic table corn feeder.
This is based on our second prototype as we built another version before, but made adjustments to allow for a better look and more kid friendly build. If you make one, then please let us know! She loves to know people watch her videos.
And yes, I know there are probably quicker and easier ways to build, but we wanted a build that allowed a young child to build the feeder.
We did a ton of work prior to recording this video. She did 90% of the work and learning even when the video does not show it all. By the third build she was ready to move on especially with the distraction of a toad.
This project allowed us to connect as father-daughter, but we also did a ton of learning with math, measuring, dealing with failure, learning new skills(hammering a nail, drill a screw, glue), and so much more. It is amazing how we went from our first prototype to this version in a few days.
I can’t help but think about how to get more of this type of learning into schools.
