Coffeechug Maker Tips – A New Series To Empower Educators

I am working on the final touches to a new series to this podcast based on a new presentation I am doing at conferences. I have a new session/workshop called,

MakeGeeking: Maker DIY Hacks and Tricks

This will be rapid fire session of maker tips and tricks that I use as a maker and DIYer. This session will share out things I use in my workshop, makerspace, and home innovation studio. These ideas will give you some new ways to organize materials, simple strategies to make projects flow easier, and all the little things that we can teach kids to be better makers. Come ready to learn and to experiment with new ideas for your own makerspace.

As I have been curating various things I have discovered through mistakes, mentors, and making I thought I would begin to share them here on the blog to help others who cannot attend the sesssions. I am working on developing this series into something useful and not just a blast of ideas that cannot be implemented. When I was drafting out the plan I thought about the whole reason why I share on my blog in the first place – to hopefully inspire or help one other person. If more than one finds use, then that is a super win!

As I was structuring my ideas my brain spurned into many other thoughts, but one in particular that I thought would be really powerful would be to feature guest educators in this series sharing their ideas. Something that we need more of right now is positive educator voices sharing their expertise.

I started to make this little postcard project where I attached information to a Flipgrid on these awesome Alan Fletcher postcards I bought. I will be leaving these around conference centers and other locations to hopefully inspire the random person who picks one up.

Additionally, I want YOU, the reader to share as well. Here are the details.

  1. Head to this Flipgrid link https://flipgrid.com/c572b8
  2. Submit your name
  3. Add your video showcasing your tip or trick or hack

Once I receive I will eventually reach out to you and we can discuss how I will share it on the blog to make sure all is good.

Together through community we can help each other. Educators are the greatest makers and hackers on the planet. We hack ideas on the fly all day long because we have to! Let’s share. No idea is too small. Often times the smaller ideas are the ones we are looking for!

I look forward to seeing your ideas on Flipgrid and eventually sharing them here for others to learn from!

What are you waiting for, think of your first hack to share.

My first maker tip comes very soon!

In the meantime, here would be an example
