Ethical Conversation on AI: What Type of Car Would You Choose?

Working on a new online project for educators that will be a resource that they can turn around and use in their classroom. I have been working with several educators who are trying to incorporate computer science, STEM, current events, ethics, and more into the school day without a budget and limited time. We could stomp our feet and complain about all the barriers or we can work through the variables to make it happen.

As I have had powerful conversations with several people on my podcast about artificial intelligence, coding, and computer science, I believe there is an urgent need to hold conversations on these topics. To have conversations, lead Socratic Seminar, and bringing awareness and deep thinking to topics of AI, machine learning, technology, and more we can help students realize they can play a role that will impact them.

I have been working and seeking input from others on a variety of topics. We are closing in on having enough topics to have a question a week for an entire school year. Some topics may not be for all ages, but you as the professional can decide what you can and cannot use.

Each week I will share the following

  1. Question of discussion
  2. Article or video to read to give context to the question so everyone has a level playing field of information
  3. Additional resources, activities, and more in case the topic resonates with students

So, what I have below is for us, the adults, to have our own space to grapple with these topics. If we want to use with students, then we need to be active in the learning.

Here is your first prompt

How do you get involved?

  1. I have created Teams for us to connect and get involved. You can ask to join our group by filling out these three questions on this Form.Once you submit I will send you an email with a link to join our Teams.
  2. In the Teams you will find a channel for this question. In this channel there is a Wakelet of resources, a Flipgrid for video sharing, a poll to complete, and a space for typed conversation. We can use this space for us to explore this topic and have a place for us to learn.

From there you can turn around and apply to your classroom as you see fit. So, I am ready. I am waiting and looking forward to you to join us in the space. What type of car will you choose?
