Global Project Focusing On Creating Change In Quality Education

Many of us are looking for ways to push the learning in our classrooms beyond the surface and deep levels of learning. We are looking to create conditions within ourselves and students to transfer what we are learning to change ourselves and others.

We have created a new global project that will be an opportunity to do just that.

Driving Question

The driving question of this project is

Students from around the world will examine weekly questions focused on quality education to explore how they can play a role in making the world a better place for all youth growing up in a world that needs their voice, insights, and actions. Students will work and learning with partners from around the world to make a real change that will better serve the educational needs to students whether locally, regionally, or globally while discovering how all of our actions impact other people.

Why Education?

Despite the considerable progress on education access and participation over the past years, 262 million children and youth aged 6 to 17 were still out of school in 2017, and more than half of children and adolescents are not meeting minimum proficiency standards in reading and mathematics. Rapid technological changes present opportunities and challenges, but the learning environment, the capacities of teachers and the quality of education have not kept pace. Refocused efforts are needed to improve learning outcomes for the full life cycle, especially for women, girls and marginalized people in vulnerable settings.

With a focus on education students will gain not only new knowledge, but insights to the inequalities of education around the world. They will broaden their understanding of the world by exploring issues that impact them locally as well as others regionally and globally. As a result, deep learning on perspectives, values, and beliefs will be explored.
