LEGO 100 Brick Quarantine Challenge

100 Piece Build-A-Thon!

I know many of us are stuck at home. We are looking for ideas to connect with our kids, but doing so in a way that is fun and engaging. We are already stressed with work/no work, entertaining our children, and trying to balance the pressure of being a good parent while figuring out learning.
I wanted to create something that would be fun, challenge the brain, and allow for play.
The key here is that everyone gets involved. Play together. It really is that simple.
How does this work?
Today is day 1. Your task today is to choose 100 pieces from your collection that you want to use for the next 4 weeks.Yep, that’s right. You will use these pieces each day. Each morning will be a new build for you to figure out how to make with the pieces. You can’t swap or exchange pieces, so the constraint is the choice of pieces. Choose wisely.
Each member of your family has their own 100 pieces, so divide and conquer and figure out a way to store your pieces!
Are you up for the challenge? Be sure to read all the rules below
If you want an email reminder and notification of the daily build ideas and updates, then please fill out this form.
The Rules
Today you will gather your 100 pieces and post a photo of your pieces to me via email (aarmau@gmail.com) or to the Coffee For The Brain Facebook page, or on Twitter by tagging me (@aaronmaureredu)
Keep these pieces separate from the rest of your LEGO so they don’t get mixed up with the other LEGO elements you own.
  1. Each new challenge will be posted here in the newsletter and Coffee For The Brain FB page
  2. To complete the build-a-thon, you must post every single day to the new thread. No exceptions. I will monitor them each day and I will try to figure out a way to showcase all the builds as we go.
  3. None of the builds will require the use of Minifigures or wheels, so you need not include those in your 100 pieces. You MAY use baseplates to help stabilize your builds, but they shouldn’t be the focus of the builds.
  4. All themes will have to do with vibes of positive thinking and happiness, so keep that in mind when choosing colors and pieces so you have a nice variety!
That’s it!

6 throughts on "LEGO 100 Brick Quarantine Challenge"

  1. I am a STEAM teacher working remotely, would you mind if I borrow the idea in a smaller scale? I can’t commit to everyday with the frequency I will “see” my students.

    1. Feel free. I would love to see their builds if possible. I can post to the site if that helps at all.

      1. Thank you I will keep a collection and share with you. I may point some families to your site if they want to be part of the global group as a family. thanks again.
