“Marvel”ous Fitness: Be Your Own Superhero

For far too long I have focused too much on work and others instead of a myself and my family. As I have been finally getting around to taking action to living my new mantra of “Do Less to Be More” I have been working through the phase of breaking bad habits.

One of these habits has been a neglect of taking care of myself and my health. Because of this I have formed more excuses than I care to admit about why I don’t have time to excercise, eat healthy, and work on overall well being. I have lived long enough to understand that when I do excercise and clear my mind I am so much more happy and more enjoyable to be around. I know this. I have been successful at these positive habits in the past. And it is time to bring them back.

As I have pondered over ways to get myself to a point of accountability that does not require money, special pills and potions, or restricting so much of what I enjoy I decided to try something fun. I need something that will work. I am in need to do something and I can no longer keep making excuses.

I am calling this it “Marvel”ous Fitness: Be Your Own Superhero. The premise is simple.

Each week we will watch one of the Marvel movies in order of the Marvel universe. This will provide roughly 2 hours of excercise. I don’t care what you do or how you do it, but obviously you will need access to the movie. This does not mean that you can’t do other things(which is what I am hoping we will do), but those extra workouts are pure bonus.

During the week we will discuss the movie and various other nerd things superhero related. As opposed to being pressured to share weight and all that jazz we will form our bonds through the movies and Marvel Universe.

This will last for 18 weeks starting this week.

Along the way we will have other things to discuss and share as we navigate the journey.

I figured that with it being focused around a movie we have

  1. Entertainment
  2. No excuses about weather
  3. Freedom to run, walk, bike, elliptical, etc.
  4. A space to share our inner nerdiness

In the end I am hoping to get back to feeling good about myself. If I can feel good about myself, then I know I can help others. More importantly, this will help me break another bad habit of mine where all I do is think about work and work related items.

If you are interested in joining me, then head over to FB and search “Marvel”ous Fitness. The page should show up or simply DM and I will send you an invite.

We start this week with Captain America: The 1st Avenger
