#25daysofmaking Day 28 Makey Makey Voting Machine/Holiday Door

Laugh. Life, like education, is too important to be taken seriously. Ian Gilbert

Dear Makey Makey enthusiasts,

Welcome to day 28. Today AND tomorrow I get a chance to bring you not just one, but TWO Makey Makey projects submitted by the amazing Colleen Graves from Makey Makey. She is phenomenal. I have followed her work when she was a librarian, her books are part of my must have makerspace book necessities, and now I get to share two brilliant projects with you.

A little over a month ago I published this podcast with her which has so many key ideas for us to remember while we prepare for the second half of the school year.

Enjoy!

Create

So what about the project today? Day 28 is all about making a functional and fun interactive project. This one can be turned into a voting machine, formative assessment tracker, holiday door, or whatever you wish. The beauty of this project is that you have the complete freedom to turn it into whatever you wish. The goal here is really about learning a new skill and building concept that can be turned into whatever it is you are working on.

We have made this in my Makey Makey workshops with teachers to create interactive data compilers and I cannot tell you how excited they get when it all works. This is a great one to consider making because the possibilities are endless.

Have some fun with it and we can’t wait to see your work!

Share

Add your project or any other projects you are working on through these options to share how you approached today’s challenge or the one from yesterday. Then, check out and comment on some other examples when they are shared.

Besides using the hashtag #25daysofmaking on Instagram and Twitter I am also posting the projects over on Facebook so you can interact on this platform as well.

Finally, don’t forget to head over to Flipgrid and introduce yourself and/or your students!

Reflect

This element is important! Don’t neglect reflection on your own learning. We must be lifelong learners and be models to our students.

Take a moment to reflect on your creative process by sharing with the hashtags and other mediums. Let us start a conversation about this concept. How did remixing help you? What questions do you still have about remixing?
