#25daysofmaking Project 12: Christmas Scrap Sculpture 🎁

“There are three responses to a piece of design: Yes, No, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.”—Milton Glaser

Dear gift wrappers and present givers,

Welcome to day 12. My amazing and inspiring friend Jed Dearybury has come up with an amazing project that ANYONE can do! No tech, no fancy equipment, but tons of imagination, creativity, and fun!

As you work through the challenge for today be brave and share your work. As the quote states above we are all aiming for WOW! What kind of WOW can you make with the supplies provided in the challenge today.

Finally, as you all hold on tight for the final stretch to winter break, this might be a great activity to keep them active and engaged.

We hope you enjoy the 12th day of making project.

Create

The 12th project is a project that easily allows our imagination to run wild. It also will not cost you a penny as you are simply using leftover scraps from this and that. The project is challenging you to create some artwork using scrap Christmas paper, tape rolls, tape, etc.

The book he mentions in his introductory video is I’m Not Just a Scribble. This book is a delight. If you are an Amazon Prime member it is currently free on Kindle Unlimited. A picture book on the Kindle is nowhere near the same as the actual book, but at least you can read it to determine whether you need to add it to your collection. Perhaps this is your next maker activity with some literacy infused.

Even if you are not a classroom teacher you can do that at home with your children or perhaps even your spouse.

Share

Add your project or any other projects you are working on through these options to share how you approached today’s challenge or the one from yesterday. Then, check out and comment on some other examples when they are shared.

Besides using the hashtag #25daysofmaking on Instagram and Twitter I am also posting the projects over on Facebook so you can interact on this platform as well.

Finally, don’t forget to head over to Flipgrid and introduce yourself and/or your students!

Reflect

This element is important! Don’t neglect reflection on your own learning. We must be lifelong learners and be models to our students.

Take a moment to reflect on your creative process by sharing with the hashtags and other mediums. Let us start a conversation about this concept. How did remixing help you? What questions do you still have about remixing?
